Umbrella Graveyard

The wind and rainstorm overstayed its welcome in Manhattan, and carcasses of poor little umbrellas littered the streets.  I couldn't get over how many were scattered in every direction.  The irony is that it was useless to even have an umbrella-- with rain coming at you from every direction, a raincoat created out of several garbage bags would have been far more useful.    Today's weather was brilliant-- bright blue sky with a gleaming sun, its warmth caressing the skin.  I took an uncharacteristic lunch time walk to soak it all in. 
But the memories remain...
